AIIMS Raipur observes World Hearing Day with awareness drive

AIIMS Raipur’s Department of ENT and Head-Neck Surgery marked World Hearing Day 2025 with a three-day awareness campaign focusing on hearing health and prevention of hearing loss. Led by Dr. Renu Rajguru and Dr. Ripu Daman Arora, the initiative engaged students, medical professionals, and the public.

With the theme “Changing Mindsets: Let’s Make Ear and Hearing Care a Reality for All,” the campaign emphasized early diagnosis, prevention, and accessibility of hearing care.
AIIMS Raipur Executive Director and CEO, Lt. Gen. Ashok Jindal (Retd) and Dean Dr. Alok C. Aggarwal extended their support, highlighting the importance of hearing health.

Key Events:

• ENT Health Check-up Camp (March 1, 2025): A screening camp at a primary school in Tilda focused on ear, nose, throat, and hearing problems.
• Awareness Run for Hearing Health (March 2, 2025): A “Run for Hearing Health” at AIIMS Raipur raised awareness about noise-induced hearing loss, with participation from MBBS and nursing students, faculty, and hospital staff.
• Nukkad Natak & Awareness Drive (March 3, 2025): A street play, ‘Samjho Kaan Ki Baat,’ educated audiences about the dangers of prolonged exposure to loud music.
• CME Seminar on Hearing Health (March 3, 2025): Experts from various departments, including Prof. Renu Rajguru, Prof. Abhiruchi Galhotra, Prof. Rupa Mehta, Dr. Ripu Daman Arora, and others, discussed topics such as better hearing, noise pollution, hearing aids, and the effects of mobile phone usage on hearing.

Lt. Gen. Ashok Jindal (Retd), Executive Director & CEO of AIIMS Raipur, emphasized the need for regular hearing screening and timely treatment to prevent hearing loss.

Prof. (Dr.) Renu Rajguru, HOD ENT Department highlighted the role of education, lifestyle changes, and screening in preventing hearing problems, while Dr. Ripu Daman Arora discussed the impact of mobile phones and Bluetooth on hearing.

AIIMS Raipur aims to extend screening camps to rural areas and schools, ensuring accessible hearing care for all. The ENT department offers specialized consultations, diagnosis, and treatment for hearing-related issues, reinforcing the importance of prioritizing hearing health.
