
Raipur : During a two-day master trainer training, The Bharat Scouts and Guides leaders learned the ins and outs of gender awareness, rights, and inclusive menstrual hygiene management.
Master trainers have been trained to spread the “Tarunya Varta #Periods_Par_Khulkar Campaign” across the state under the aegis of menstrual hygiene management. This campaign was launched under the joint aegis of UNICEF and the The Bharat Scouts and Guides, Chhattisgarh. The campaign will conclude on May 28th, World Menstrual Hygiene Day. Three District Organization Commissioners (Scouts, Guides) and women leaders from each district of the state attended the training program.
Beginning the training, UNICEF Wash Officer Birja Kabi Satpathy directly interacted with the trainees about their first menstruation and how they learned about it. One by one, each participant shared their experiences. Misconceptions related to menstruation were discussed in detail and doubts were resolved.

Abhishek Tripathi, UNICEF’s SBC Consultant, interacted with leaders on social norms, community engagement, and youth participation. He elaborated on the importance of discussing the topic of menstrual hygiene management openly.
Ashish Kumar of UNICEF provided information on how to manage menstrual hygiene. On the second day of the training, Dr. PV Masih, a gynecologist from Raipur, provided information on menstruation and related technical information. Other experts also spoke.
The Bharat Scouts and Guides State Coordinator Membership Growth Mohammed Sadique Sheikh and State Coordinator OYMS Dilip Patel provided information on how to implement the campaign with Scouts, Guides, Rovers, Rangers, and other leaders in the districts.
State Chief Commissioner presented certificates

On the evening of the final day of the training, all master trainers were presented with certificates by State Chief Commissioner Inderjeet Singh Khalsa. At the closing ceremony, Mr. Khalsa stated that this campaign was launched to increase awareness about menstrual hygiene among adolescents. The campaign aims to reduce myths and hesitations related to menstruation and gender issues. Scouts and Guides will serve as youth ambassadors in the districts. National Headquarters Commissioner G. Swamy also spoke. The closing ceremony was conducted by State Training Commissioner (Guides) Sarita Pandey.
